GSSF/DIG host fruitful maiden Steel Challenge

first_img– the McKinnons emerge winnersVeteran shooters and married couple Ryan and Vidushi McKinnon emerged winners of the inaugural Guyana Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF)/Dental Imports Guyana Inc. (DIG) sponsored Steel Challenge match held this past weekend.Winners: Ryan McKinnon and Vidushi McKinnon (centre); Pravesh Harry (L); and at right, the two 2nd place winners (Rajiv Latchana)The McKinnons created history last Saturday when they emerged first place winners in their respective divisions — Limited and Production — following the end of the Tier 1 Steel Challenge Match at the Timehri Ranges.Competition was particularly high in the Limited Division, with the CZ Shadow 2 showing what it’s capable of.Shooters competed against each other in 3 stages: Smoke & Hope, Showdown and Roundabout; and when the smoke cleared, the local steel challenge champ McKinnon secured another win in 2018.The veteran marksman and current GSSF President shot an amazing 47.20 seconds, eclipsing second place John Phang, who recorded 53.86 seconds. Organiser Dr. Pravesh Harry missed Phang’s score by just over 2 seconds, as he also shot well for his 3rd place score of 55.09 seconds.Former GSSF President, Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, outshot her lone competitor in the Production Division, ending with a time of 73.81 seconds, ahead of the 2nd place Rajiv Latchana with 85.51 seconds.Scoring was efficiently conducted by Stats officer Harry, using a specialised scoring application; and it was uploaded to the Practiscore website.Trophies, together with the presentation of shirts to the winners, followed the event, and Dr. Harry, in the closing ceremony, reiterated his pleasure at being able to sponsor a Guyana Sport Shooting Foundation’s Steel Challenge match.
