Also results of WMS and JV golf, JV tennis are below …•••••Erin Goodrum at second base in game one against Circle.Girls softballThe Wellington girls softball team split with Circle to improve its record to 6-8 in the season and pick up its first Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Div. IV win.The Crusaders would lose a nine-inning marathon with Circle in game one 6-3. But the Lady Dukes would avenge the loss in the nightcap with a 12-8 victory.In game one, Circle would break a 3-all tie in the top of the ninth when Caylie Kifer hit a three-run homer with two outs to lift the Thunderbirds to victory. Circle opened the game with a run off an RBI double.But Wellington would score a run in the bottom of the first and then get a 2RBI home run from Ryleigh Buck to make it 3-1 Dukes after three innings. Circle then scored a run in the fourth and tied it in the fifth off Kifer’s first home run.Madi Adams makes a big catch in left field to end the seventh inning in game one. CHS. 1 0 0 1 1 0 0 0 3.    6 8 1WHS.1 0 2 0 0 0 0 0 0.    3 6 2 CHS. 3 0 1 0 0 4 0.    8 10 2WHS 0 9 0 1 1 1 x.    12 13 0 HR WHS A Goodrum, Dry The two teams would go scoreless for three innings before Kifer’s homer in the ninth.In the second game, Wellington would spot Circle three runs in the top of the first, but would explode in the bottom half of the second inning with nine runs.Abby Goodrum and Jade Dry would both get home runs in that inning.Bailey DeJarnett started things off with a single and Goodrum singled. Dry then whacked a three-run homer to tie the game up.After two outs, Avery Rusk walked, Madi Adams singled, Rylee Buck doubled, Erin Goodrum singled, DeJarnett doubled, and Goodrum homered to cap a very productive inning.Leading 9-3, Wellington would add a run in the fourth, fifth and sixth inning to lead 12-4. Circle made it interesting with four runs in the top of the sixth.Lewellen was the losing pitcher in game one with eight strikeouts, while allowing eight hits and walking two. Dry was the winning pitcher in game two, allowing 10 hits and three walks, while striking out two.Wellington hosts Winfield Thursday.Photo gallery of the games can be found here. They would beat Circle 4-3 and 12-11. Therin Frame was the winning pitcher in game one and Adam Hilt won game two. The JV team is 12-4 for the season.•••••Wellington Middle School golfThe WMS golf team placed third at the Augusta Country Club tournament Thursday.Wellington had 173 points. Ark City won the event with 160 and Augusta had 167. Winfield was fourth with 187.Scoring for Wellington were: Tyler Jimenez 55, Ethan Rowley 55, Luke McComb 63, Tanner Dillon 67, Cody Metz 67 and Mason Lough 86.•••••Wellington JV golfWellington finished fourth out of 12 teams. Skyler Crittenden scored a 92 and finished fourth. Other scorers were: Aaron Schoemann 103, Jack Heimer 105, Aareon Mason 111, Jalen Harris 112, Blake Bales 116.Follow us on Twitter.
