For the last couple of weeks movie sequels have been making the news. First up we heard about the potential for a Blade Runner sequel, then we had it confirmed Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to play a T-800 again in Terminator 5. Today, we’re talking about remakes, and specifically the 1976 movie Logan’s Run.Remaking such a classic is sure to grab the attention of science fiction fans (probably more out of concern than excitement). But there is at least one reason to think this may actually turn out to be a great movie. That reason is Ken Levine.Levine will be better known to most of you as the co-founder and creative director at Irrational Games, as well as being the creator of BioShock. But before he turned his hand to video games, Levine was a screenplay writer. Now it looks as though Warner Bros. has hired him to write the screenplay for a remake of Logan’s Run.That may seem unusual seeing as Levine is now so focused on creating games at Irrational, but apparently he accepted the offer because he is so passionate about the project. That’s another good sign we could get a great movie from him.Levine has already proven he can grab and keep our attention across the games he has worked on (System Shock 2, Thief: The Dark Project, and the BioShock titles). Hopefully he can achieve the same thing for Logan’s Run.
