first_imgWebsiteWebsiteWebsite WebsiteWebsiteWebsite WebsiteWebsiteWebsite Before we all start celebrating, however, we have to remember that at the start of the year, the petrol price was R13.20 and by April this year, it had risen to a whopping R13.98 – just two cents short of breaching the R14 mark in coastal priced fuel, the cheapest category in the country. So, despite the 22 cents drop, we are still paying 41 cents more than we did at the start of the year. The recent drop in fuel price has been attributed to a stronger rand and increased production this time of year, which naturally drives the price of petroleum products down.So fill up while you can, because long term forecasts  are not promising and the downward spike in the fuel price could end as fast as it has begun.Update: The new price for unleaded petrol in Ladysmith is R13.68.Important note, the diesel price is unregulated and it pays to shop around for the cheapest price. The petrol price will drop by 22 cents today. This drop in the price of fuel will provide small relief for most consumers. The wholesale price of diesel will drop by 23.58c a litre and that of paraffin by 10c a litre. This makes the standard price of 95 unleaded petrol R13.61 a litre as of Wednesday.
