LEXINGTON, KY – NOVEMBER 14: A general view of the Kentucky Wildcats game against the Grand Canyon Antelopes at Rupp Arena on November 14, 2014 in Lexington, Kentucky. (Photo by Andy Lyons/Getty Images)Former Kentucky forward Willie Cauley-Stein, who is set to be selected later this week in the 2015 NBA Draft, has a number of tattoos covering his body. While all surely have significant meaning for the future NBA star, one – his most recent addition – surely means a bit more than the rest. This past weekend, Cauley-Stein got a massive neck tattoo to honor his late friend Blake Hundley, who passed away from cancer in May at the age of just nine years old. Cauley-Stein and Hundley had developed an incredible friendship in a short time. Cauley-Stein even wore “Team Blake” wristbands during games this past season.Cauley-Stein posted an Instagram photo of the design for his fans. He made no mention of where on his body he’d be getting inked.Cauley-Stein is regarded as one of the most likable players in basketball, so his decision to honor Hundley doesn’t come as a surprise. Whichever teams drafts him this Thursday will certainly be getting a high-character person.

The project was launched with the film secretprojectrevolution, co-directed by Madonna and Steven Klein.
New York: US oil giant Chevron announced Friday it had agreed to acquire all outstanding shares of Anadarko in a stock and cash transaction valued at $33 billion, or $65 per share. Based on Chevron’s Thursday closing price, Anadarko shareholders will receive 0.39 shares of Chevron and USD16.25 in cash for each Anadarko share held, the company said in a statement. The total enterprise value of the transaction is USD50 billion. “The acquisition of Anadarko will significantly enhance Chevron’s already advantaged Upstream portfolio and further strengthen its leading positions in large, attractive shale, deepwater and natural gas resource basins,” the company said. Also Read – Thermal coal import may surpass 200 MT this fiscal”The combination of Anadarko’s premier, high-quality assets with our advantaged portfolio strengthens our leading position in the Permian, builds on our deepwater Gulf of Mexico capabilities and will grow our LNG business. “It creates attractive growth opportunities in areas that play to Chevron’s operational strengths and underscores our commitment to short-cycle, higher-return investments.” Anadarko Chairman and CEO Al Walker added: “The strategic combination of Chevron and Anadarko will form a stronger and better company with world-class assets, people and opportunities.” Also Read – Food grain output seen at 140.57 mt in current fiscal on monsoon boostThe deal is the oil industry’s largest since Royal Dutch Shell bought BG Group in 2016, and it sparked speculation that other shale producers are in play. Shares of Apache Corp, which also has extensive acreage in the Permian Basin, jumped 7 percent in premarket trading, while Pioneer Natural Resources Co rose 6 per cent. US crude oil production now surpasses 12 million barrels a day (bpd), and the nation is the third-largest producer of liquefied natural gas (LNG), the super-cooled fuel that is seeing record demand as a cheaper, cleaner alternative for countries that still rely heavily on coal for power generation. Chevron, which already has 2.3 million acres in the Permian Basin, said the deal to buy Anadarko would give the combined company a 75-mile (120-km)-wide corridor across the Permian’s Delaware basin, on the Texas-New Mexico border. Anadarko also has a Mozambique LNG project, part of one of the industry’s largest planned current investments. Chevron Chief Executive Michael Wirth will lead the combined company after the deal closes. Chevron will remain headquartered in San Ramon, California. Mohamed Ouhemou, Casablanca- The man whose invention has killed more people than nuclear weapons, HIV and many other diseases all together is dead. Mikhail Kalashnikov, famous for his invention, the fully automatic assault rifle, the AK-47, known also as the Kalashnikov, died Monday at age 94. Mikhail Kalashnikov was born on 10 November 1919 in western Siberia. In 1938, he was called up for service in the Soviet Red Army, where he took advantage of his designing skills and employed them to improve the effectiveness of weapons and equipment used by the Soviet tank regiments he served in. He started seriously considering designing an assault machine gun when one of his friends in the army asked him why he could not make a gun that matched the power and efficiency of the guns used by the Germans. In 1947 Mikhail Kalashnikov completed the design of his legendary weapon whose simplicity made it both reliable and easy to use and maintain, but, most importantly, cheap to manufacture. One can only admire his great invention. Unlike its American counterpart the M16, which has always been criticized for being hard to maintain, the Kalashnikov can fire in all conditions, rain or shine, and it even if it gets wet or severely damaged, it will still fire. Hence when it was first distributed in 1963 to the American soldiers positioned in Vietnam, many soldiers refused to carry the weapon, saying that they would not put their lives into the hands of a children’s toy. Later, the M16 was modified and all the plastic parts were reinforced with steel, for instance the plastic bullet magazine was reinforced with steel.Besides the technical aspects as to which the Kalashnikov certainly stands superior, the Kalashnikov also has its romantic appeal. It is the weapon that liberated many African nations form colonial rule and put and end to colonial arrogance and military superiority. It seems that the Kalashnikov, when put in the hands of a well determined freedom fighter can achieve great miracles. Therefore it is employed by the armies of dozens of countries. Mozambiquehas even incorporated it into its national flags. Likewise for other national liberation movements such as Hezbollah in Lebanon, or the Irish National Liberation Army.American media has always tried to associate this weapon with terrorism and organized crime, and therefore it is rare to see any American action movies without having ugly and evil looking men carrying the Kalashnikov. Those ugly men are in most cases Arabs or Africans. While on the other side, you would see a group, of kind and good looking white fellows carrying the M-16, and getting rid of those evil men. The Kalashnikov, will always have its appeal and pertinence, though writing such as statement might seem callous, but the role of war above all is to kill as many as you can.Tough Mikhail Kalashnikov was honored by the government, he made almost no money from his invention. He is also said to have expressed his unhappiness about his invention, “It would have been better if I had designed a more useful and productive machine which farmers and workers could use,”he once said.Edited by Elisabeth Myers© Morocco World News. Manchester United will challenge Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plans to use the match to learn more about his players.Reds Devils will be clashing with third-placed Spurs in the Premier League at Wembley Stadium in today and United coach adds that his team are capable of beating anyone.“Of course it will be tough but, then again, we can make it tough for them,” said Ole, when speaking to MUTV during their warm-weather training camp in Dubai this week.Liverpool legend Nicol slams Harry Maguire’s Man United form Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Steve Nicol believes Harry Maguire has made some “horrendous mistakes” recently, and has failed to find his best form since joining Manchester United.“They [Spurs] have got strengths and weaknesses, as have we, so it’s one of those games that we’ll need, and the cup game against Arsenal, before we go into the Champions League against PSG because that’s the ultimate test.”So, for me, the Spurs game isn’t the be all and end all. Of course it’s important, but it’s preparation for the rest of the season and the way going forward. We’ve won five games and you learn so much by winning but, when you get these tougher games, then you learn more about the personalities and how they deal with these situations.“

At 33,000 square feet, it will be a place where dental and lab services will be provided. Abaco currently has about three nurses and one doctor, Dr Darville said. By December, the island will have 16 nurses, five doctors, a radiologist and two lab technicians.Charlene Bain, the Director of Public Health, added that the overall health staff on the island will grow from the 20 that it has now to 70 by September. The facility boasts an administrative wing, pharmacy and a morgue where autopsies will be performed.Mr. Christie has revealed that the Ministry of Finance has also dedicated funding for a mini-hospital to be constructed in Palmetto Point, Eleuthera.#magneticmedianews#marshharbourcentreopens

The likely collapse of SunEdison Inc’s solar project in India, the first of 32 planned “ultra mega” complexes, could delay Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal to increase renewable energy fivefold by several years and probably cost consumers more.As the U.S. solar giant fights to stave off bankruptcy, the 500 megawatt project in Andhra Pradesh state it won last November lies idle with ground yet to be broken. The other projects are still to be bid on.It’s doubtful any rival will pick up the project at the aggressive power pricing promised by SunEdison, which beat out 29 other bidders with a record-low tariff of 4.63 rupees (7 U.S. cents) per kilowatt-hour.That will force Indian officials to tighten auction rules to ensure that only serious, bankable bidders show up, industry sources said. India plans to auction more of the “ultra mega” projects — those which generate at least 500 MW– in the current fiscal year through to March 2017.”There is always a trade off,” Upendra Tripathy, secretary at the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, told Reuters of the renewable energy auctions.”There can be a relaxed condition so that more people can participate and there is another where you can make sure fly-by-night operators can’t come in. It’s an ongoing process and we are open to suggestions.”Tightening auction rules could slow the pace at which projects are awarded and built, pushing back Modi’s goal of expanding solar capacity to 100 gigawatts by 2020 to the middle of the decade, say officials and industry players.Tripathy, however, said India will for now stick to its goal, set by Modi soon after taking office in 2014, and that it has planned for SunEdison-like bumps in the road with a strong project pipeline.Modi is banking on India’s 300 days a year of sunshine to help fight climate change rather than committing to emission cuts like China. But he has also pushed firms to provide cheap power, which risks leaving too little profit on the table.Heavily indebted SunEdison, which according to one of its publicly listed units could soon file for bankruptcy protection, drew criticism from analysts for its low winning bid for the Andhra project. The company is now exploring a sale of its Indian assets of around 1 GW or seeking partners for them, sources said, and has drawn preliminary interest from billionaire Gautam Adani’s fast-expanding Adani Group. Apart from the Andhra project, SunEdison has several other small plants under construction across India.POSSIBLE RE-BIDA person close to Adani said the low tariff agreed for the Andhra plant will make any deal with SunEdison difficult for Indian firms, which have a relatively high cost of capital. If no buyer is found, the project could be re-bid, the industry sources said.SunEdison did not respond to multiple requests for comment.”The tariffs are a tad aggressive and that may not be healthy for developers themselves and also for others in the ecosystem manufacturers and financiers,” said Santosh Kamath, head of renewables at consultancy KPMG India. “That might be a warning signal for the industry.”SunEdison’s troubles notwithstanding, India has attracted deep-pocketed investors to its $100 billion solar energy program – the biggest in the world.Japan’s Softbank Corp, Taiwan’s Foxconn and India’s Bharti Enterprises have separately pledged to invest a total of about $20 billion in India’s renewable sector. Global solar giants like First Solar Inc, Trina Solar Ltd and Finland’s state-controlled utility Fortum Oyj are also expanding their presence.India wants the share of non-fossil fuel in total installed power capacity to jump to 40 percent by 2030 from 30 percent currently.Challenges include the weak finances of state distribution companies forced to sell subsidised power, difficulties hooking up solar projects to grids, and access to affordable capital. Land acquisition is also an issue that Modi’s government has been unable to fix – a 500 MW solar project needs on average 2,000 acres (800 hectares).”Given the energy deficit, need for energy security and sustained economic growth, the potential clearly exists for 100 GW of solar (energy) in India,” said Sujoy Ghosh, country head of First Solar. “The question would be on the time lines in which the goal is achieved.”The Indian government is trying to persuade state banks to extend loans to solar projects, but most lenders are saddled with bad loans and unlikely to risk getting exposed to renewable projects with low rates of return. To avoid projects getting stuck for a lack of backing, India should make it mandatory for solar bidders to get funding assurances from banks at the beginning of an auction to ensure only serious players take part, analysts said. Tripathy, the government secretary, said he could consider the suggestion.”We’ll have to take care that projects don’t become unviable,” KPMG’s Kamath said. “If some projects become unviable then banks will stop lending to new projects and then they get stranded, like we have seen in the power and road sectors in the past.”($1 = 66.4938 Indian rupees)
Marion Barry served as the District’s mayor and on the D.C. Council. (AFRO File Photo)The D.C. Commission to Commemorate and Recognize the Honorable Marion S. Barry Jr., recently gave recommendations to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser on how the District can honor the late political icon.On Nov. 23, the one-year anniversary of Barry’s death, Bowser was given the report of the commission by its chairman, former D.C. Administrator Michael Rogers, at the John A. Wilson Building at an event sponsored by the alumni of Youth Pride, an employment initiative Barry co-founded in 1967. Barry served four terms as the District’s mayor (1979-1991, 1995-1999) and 15 years as a member of the D.C. Council as at-large (1975-1979) and then a Ward 8 representative (1993-1995, 2005-2014).He also served a stint as president of the D.C. School Board from 1971-1974, serving two of those years as the board’s president.Barry is prominently known for his youth jobs program that promised employment for District teenagers and young adults during the summer months. He was also recognized as the mayor that mandated that at least 40 percent of the District’s government contracts go to Black businesses and that large corporations and professional firms must sub-contract or partner with Black firms to participate in procurement programs. The recommendations from the commission, included installing a bust or statute of Barry in front of the John A. Wilson Building and renaming Good Hope Road, S.E., Ballou Senior High School and the new student center at the University of the District of Columbia in honor of the late mayor.Bowser lauded Barry’s service to the city.“Sometime after Martin had a dream and before President Obama gave us hope, Marion Barry provided opportunity,” the mayor said. “And with these recommendations we will take the first step to rename Good Hope Road after Marion connecting him with Martin in the heart of Ward 8.”Rogers was joined on the 13-member commission that was created by Bowser in March by luminaries such as former D.C. Mayor Sharon Pratt, former D.C. first lady and widow Cora Masters Barry, his son Christopher Barry, developer Herb Miller, D.C. Council member Anita Bonds (D-At Large), Bowser aide Beverly Perry and D.C. Historian Dr. Janette Hoston Harris.Rogers said Bowser gave the commission one-year to complete its work but they sped up the timeline for a reason.”We wanted to make sure that the mayor got our recommendations before the end of this year so she will be able to put them into her fiscal year 2017 budget,” he said.Bowser responded to Rogers saying that D.C. City Administrator Rashad Young will go to work to implement some of the recommendations while still operating in the present fiscal year 2016.Bonds was joined at the Youth Pride alumni ceremony by D.C. Council members Vincent Orange (D-At Large), Charles Allen (D-Ward 6), Elissa Silverman (I-At Large) and Brandon Todd (D-Ward 4).A special hashtag on Twitter was created to remember Barry: #WeRememberMarionBarry. D.C. Council member LaRuby May (D-Ward 8), who won his position in an April 23 special election, also kept up one of Barry’s favorite traditions. She, along with volunteers, sponsored a turkey giveaway in Ward 8 on Nov. 23 that Barry made his signature community service project. The May contingent gave away 3,000 turkeys and other foods at the old Malcolm X Elementary School.“It has been an honor to continue a tradition that was started by Marion Barry and what better time to have the turkey giveaway than on the first anniversary of his death,” May said.
By Micha Green, AFRO Washington, D.C. Editor, firstname.lastname@example.orgAlthough White residents may now make up 44 percent of the District’s population, Washington, D.C., once coined “Chocolate City,” is still majority African American with 47.7 percent of residents identifying as Black, according to the U.S. Census.Washingtonian Magazine completely disregarded the District’s majority population in a recently launched social media campaign. In a series of photos located in various places around the city, people are seen wearing shirts that read, “I’M NOT A TOURIST. I LIVE HERE.” Every single person featured in the campaign- a campaign about living in a predominantly Black city- is White.A screenshot of the from Tony Lewis Jr.’s Instagram account admonishing the Washingtonian Magazine campaign “I am Not A Tourist.” (Screenshot)As soon as the campaign dropped, Black Twitter and Washingtonians immediately chastised the magazine and its tone deaf marketing.“PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT [Washingtonian Magazine’s] DEPICTION OF WHO ‘LIVES HERE’… NOT ONE BLACK FACE IN THE ENTIRE PIECE,” social media influencer and community activist, Tony Lewis Jr. wrote on Instagram and Twitter. Lewis wrote in all capital letters similarly to the campaign t-shirts.“BLACK PEOPLE STILL MAKE UP [47 percent] OF THIS CITY. THIS IS DISRESPECTFUL, CARELESS, AND RACIST (YEAH I SAID IT, RACIST). THIS IS VERY REPRESENATIVE OF HOW WE FEEL IN OUR OWN CITY, THAT WE ARE INVISIBLE, THAT WE DON’T EXIST. THAT PEOPLE MOVE HERE HAVE MORE VALUE THAN THOSE BORN HERE. THAT WHEN WE DIE IN THE STREETS IT ISN’T IMPORTANT, THAT THE NEW RESTAURANT OR CONDO SUPERCEDES OUR EXISTENCE,” Lewis wrote. He then encouraged Washingtonians to not support the magazine. The controversy surrounding the shirts and campaign quickly escalated, prompting Washingtonian to delete the campaign and apologize.“As a native Washingtonian, I am very sorry that our latest ‘I Am Not A Tourist’ marketing campaign did not represent the wonderfully diverse city in which we live,” Washingtonian Magazine CEO and president Catherine Merrill Williams wrote in a statement.“This was the very beginning of a campaign in which all intentions are to include the many communities that make up our city. We solicited pictures from a diverse group of people and put the pictures up in the order they came in. People who saw the initial gallery of pictures had no way of knowing that it was not, in fact, the entirety of the marketing campaign. We took down the initial post because it created an impression that was inconsistent with our values and standards. We’re confident that when the campaign is complete it will reflect the diversity of the readership that we serve,” she wrote.Despite the apology some Washingtonians are still outraged. In response to Washingtonian’s campaign, Lewis is putting together a photoshoot on May 20 at Union Market for residents “born, raised and educated” in D.C.“We will provide a counter narrative that there are still folks who were born, raised, and educated in this city still here. We will provide a counter image that not every person living in the city is a [White] millennial,” Lewis wrote on Instagram. The dress code for the photo shoot is all black.

Rumors had it that subscribers would get access to a bundle of paid games from various developers for a set monthly fee.Developers will then receive a cut of the revenue generated from these monthly subscriptions based on how much play time users spent playing their title, a source told Bloomberg. The service will exclude free to play titles that offer in-app purchases, according to the source.Apple is also gearing up to reveal details of its video, TV, and news subscription services, so the addition of a gaming service seems a natural addition.
(Phys.org)—Astronomers have detected a new “hot Jupiter” exoplanet orbiting a nearby T Tauri star known as TAP 26. The newly detected alien world, designated TAP 26 b, is about 66 percent more massive than Jupiter and is orbiting its parent star approximately every 10 days. The findings were presented in a paper published Jan. 6 on arXiv.org. Astronomers discover a dense ‘hot Jupiter’ exoplanet orbiting a sun-like star Located some 480 light years away, TAP 26 belongs to the T Tauri class of variable pre-main-sequence stars. With a mass similar to that of the sun, TAP 26 has a radius of 1.17 solar radii and is about 17 million years old. Such young forming T Tauri stars could provide important information about the formation and early evolution of planetary systems. Therefore, detecting “hot Jupiters” around these objects and determining their orbital properties could help astronomers to understand how they form and migrate, offering crucial insights on physical processes responsible for generating such planets. With this aim in mind, a team of astronomers led by Louise Yu of the Toulouse University in France, has observed TAP 26 between November 2015 and January 2016 using the the 3.6-meter Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT) in Hawaii. The observational campaign, which utilized CFHT’s Echelle SpectroPolarimetric Device for the Observation of Stars (ESPaDOnS), was carried out under the Magnetic Topologies of Young Stars and the Survival of close-in massive Exoplanets (MaTYSSE) program.By implementing three different methods, the researchers managed to detect a planet radial velocity signal in TAP 26’s spectrum. The discovery is based on the analysis of 29 unpolarised and circularly polarised spectra collected over a timespan of 72 days.”We report the detection of a hot Jupiter around TAP 26 using three different methods, two using Zeeman-Doppler Imaging (ZDI) and one Gaussian-Process Regression (GPR), with a false-alarm probability smaller than 6 10−4,” the paper reads.According to the research, the newly detected planet has a mass of 1.66 Jupiter masses and is circling its parent star at a distance of nearly 0.1 AU. With its short orbital period, huge mass and proximity to its host star, TAP 26 b was classified as a “hot Jupiter.” The so-called “hot Jupiters” are gas giant planets, similar in characteristics to the solar system’s biggest planet, with orbital periods not longer than 10 days. They have high surface temperatures, as they orbit their parent stars very closely.More detailed characteristics of TAP 26 b are expected to be determined by further observations, in particular including more regular temporal sampling.Besides deriving fundamental parameters of the newly detected planet, the researchers also revealed some important insights on the nature of the host star. According to the paper, the team created surface brightness and magnetic maps of TAP 26, revealing the presence of cool spots and warm plages totaling up to 12 percent of the stellar surface. They found that the star’s photospheric temperature is about 4,620 K and its maximum V magnitude is equal to 12.16. Moreover, based on the observational data, the scientists assume that TAP 26 dissipated its accretion disc very early and its magnetic field started to evolve into a complex topology. Applying Zeeman-Doppler Imaging to our observations, concentrating in 2015 November and 2016 January and spanning 72 d in total, 16 d in 2015 November and 13 d in 2016 January, we reconstruct surface brightness and magnetic field maps for both epochs and demonstrate that both distributions exhibit temporal evolution not explained by differential rotation alone. We report the detection of a hot Jupiter (hJ) around TAP 26 using three different methods, two using Zeeman-Doppler Imaging (ZDI) and one Gaussian-Process Regression (GPR), with a false-alarm probability smaller than 6.10^-4. However, as a result of the aliasing related to the observing window, the orbital period cannot be uniquely determined; the orbital period with highest likelihood is 10.79 +/- 0.14 d followed by 8.99 +/- 0.09 d. Assuming the most likely period, and that the planet orbits in the stellar equatorial plane, we obtain that the planet has a minimum mass M.sin(i) of 1.66 +/- 0.31 M_Jup and orbits at 0.0968 +/- 0.0032 au from its host star. This new detection suggests that disc type II migration is efficient at generating newborn hJs, and that hJs may be more frequent around young T Tauri stars than around mature stars (or that the MaTYSSE sample is biased towards hJ-hosting stars). Enroll Now for Free Free Workshop | August 28: Get Better Engagement and Build Trust With Customers Now Twitter made its S-1 filing available to the public on Thursday, finally shedding some light on its initial public offering plans. The company has seen rapid growth recently. In 2012 the company saw an increase in revenue of 198 percent to about $317 million and a net loss decrease of 38 percent to about $79 million, according to the filing.According to the filing, Twitter, which plans to trade under the ticker TWTR, has 250 million monthly active users, 100 million of those are daily active users. The company said in the filing that mobile is the primary driver of its business and that 75 percent of the monthly active users access Twitter from a mobile device. There’s still a lot of information that is missing from the filing, like the number of shares the company plans to offer and the price of the shares, but it does give some insight into which investors stand to make the most money off the offering.Jack Dorsey has a 4.9 percent stake in the company, Evan Williams has a 12 percent stake and Peter Fenton, a Twitter board member, has a 6.7 percent stake. In September, the company announced it had confidentially submitted documents to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission with plans to go public, but Twitter didn’t reveal anything else about its IPO plans. The filing was made under the JOBS Act, which allows companies making less than $1 billion in revenue to work with regulators on IPO plans before actually making it public. The micro-blogging site has been valued at about $10 billion and is one of the most anticipated Silicon Valley IPOs since Facebook.
