In about two months from now, Samsung will show off its next-gen flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S10. If we are to believe all the rumours, the Galaxy S10 will come out in three models – Lite, Regular and Plus. It is also widely assumed that all three models will sport the Infinity-O display with an in-screen hole for the selfie camera. While both the regular and plus-sized models are set to come with curved screens, the Lite version will reportedly come with a flat 5.8-inch display. A new concept render gives us a look at what the Galaxy S10 Lite may look like.As Samsung is yet to confirm the name or the fact that there is a lite model, it is best to take these reports with a pinch of salt. The latest concept render comes from Ice Universe who has been consistently delivering leaks on the Galaxy S10 line off late. The render images the Galaxy S10 Lite with all-screen, practically no bezels or notch, and a punch hole on the top right corner. The tiny hole in the display will house the selfie camera, much like the newly launched Galaxy A8s.Notably, the render imagines the Galaxy S10 Lite with no chin, which is interesting but not conclusive. The Galaxy A8s has a chin and so does the Honor View20 that was revealed this week with a display hole as well. Whether Samsung manages to curve the screen inwards on the bottom to remove the chin like Apple has done with its iPhone X and later models remains to be seen.advertisementBased on what we know so far, the Galaxy S10 Lite will not come with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Instead, Samsung will be opting for a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The Galaxy S10 Lite is also said to come with a dual camera system on the back and a 3.5mm headphone jack. A newer tweet by Ice Universe claims that the Galaxy S10 Lite, S10 and S10+ will come with 5.8-inch, 6.1-inch and 6.4-inch displays, respectively.ALSO READ | Samsung Galaxy S10 new leak hints at a corner notch
The Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries is encouraging farmers in sections of St. Elizabeth to employ beet army worm management strategies to counter the increase in the pest’s population. The beet army worm affects crops such as scallion and onion, and typically impacts the southern region of the island. The Rural Agriculture Development Authority (RADA) says its latest assessment indicates the possibility of an outbreak of the pest in Junction and Southfield if preventative action is not taken by farmers. As such, farmers are being encouraged to implement beet army worm management strategies once the threshold of one worm per five plants monitored is observed.Farmers are also advised to increase field monitoring to at least twice per week (every three days) looking for egg sacks and young worms. The Ministry is recommending that farmers delay expansion of scallion fields during this period and ensure that beet army worm pheromone traps are in place to help detect any changes in the pest’s population. The beet army worm favours crops such as pepper, pumpkin or melon, so farmers should avoid planting them as the threat of the pest looms. Waste crop should also be removed immediately after scallion stripping activities. The Ministry is also urging farmers in the surrounding areas of New Forest, Cross Keys, New Port and Malvern in Manchester, and Pedro Plains, St. Elizabeth to exercise vigilance in monitoring their fields. For further information, farmers are encouraged to visit their nearest RADA office 1-888-ASK-RADA or the Research and Development Division, Plant Protection Unit (Bodles Research Station) in St. Catherine. Dan Cohen AUTHOR The Army’s end strength is scheduled to drop by 30,000 soldiers by Oct. 1, 2016, including 15,000 active-duty troops, under the fiscal 2016 defense authorization bill awaiting President Obama’s signature. The annual policy bill calls for the Army’s active component to shrink to a level of 475,000 soldiers. The service ended FY 2015 with 491,365 soldiers, nearly 17,000 fewer troopers than it had one year earlier on Oct. 1, 2014, reported Army Times. In recent years Congress has allowed the services to miss their end strength targets by 0.5 percent to account for short-term fluctuations in recruitment and attrition. The overage of 1,365 soldiers at the end of FY 2015 fell within the variance allowed under statute. This year’s authorization bill includes language increasing the permitted wiggle room at the end of the fiscal year to 2 percent as insurance against sharp declines in recruiting, or an unexpected slowdown in separations and retirements, reported the Times. The Army’s active-duty end strength is slated to drop to 450,000 by the end of FY 2018.The Army National Guard is scheduled to shrink by 8,200 soldiers to an end strength of 342,000 by Oct. 1, 2016, while the Army Reserve is scheduled to drop by 4,000 soldiers to a size of 198,000 by the end of FY 2016.Over the next two years, the Army plans to eliminate 2,400 civilian positions, with further cuts possible afterward, an Army spokesman said last week.

InstagramEver since Rohman Shawl came into Sushmita Sen’s life, the duo has been giving us some major relationship goals. From celebrating events and family gatherings together to holidaying together; there is no stopping the two from painting the town red. Rohman was recently seen attending the wedding ceremony of Sushmita Sen’s brother Rajeev Sen with Charu Asopa. And while everything looked good from the outside, reports suggest that things have not been going too well for the couple.Rohman Shawl’s recent Instagram posts hint at the couple hitting a rough patch. In a series of Instagram posts, Rohman seems to be venting out at his ‘partner’ and ‘relationship’. “So you feel you are doing too much in a relationship and your partner isn’t reciprocating… It’s alright!! You need to understand that what you do for your partner is your call, don’t put your him/her under the obligation of loving you the same way!! Do things for them because you genuinely feel like doing it, not because you expect them to do the same for you!!” he wrote. He didn’t stop at this. The actor-model also wrote, “So you expect your partner to treat you right because you are in a relationship with them? If someone doesn’t treat you right and you are still with them, its your fault!! Love yourself.””So you get bored when you are by yourself? Ok so how do you expect others to find you interesting when you can’t even entertain yourself!! Spend atleast 15-20 mins daily with yourself, without any phone, tv, books or anyone. Listen to the voice from within which is trying to talk to you, it has all the answers!” he wrote next. While Rohman hasn’t taken any names and no official confirmation has come our way, we hope this is just another one of those lovers’ tiff and nothing serious.

By Micha Green, AFRO Washington, D.C. Editor, email@example.comAlthough White residents may now make up 44 percent of the District’s population, Washington, D.C., once coined “Chocolate City,” is still majority African American with 47.7 percent of residents identifying as Black, according to the U.S. Census.Washingtonian Magazine completely disregarded the District’s majority population in a recently launched social media campaign. In a series of photos located in various places around the city, people are seen wearing shirts that read, “I’M NOT A TOURIST. I LIVE HERE.” Every single person featured in the campaign- a campaign about living in a predominantly Black city- is White.A screenshot of the from Tony Lewis Jr.’s Instagram account admonishing the Washingtonian Magazine campaign “I am Not A Tourist.” (Screenshot)As soon as the campaign dropped, Black Twitter and Washingtonians immediately chastised the magazine and its tone deaf marketing.“PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT [Washingtonian Magazine’s] DEPICTION OF WHO ‘LIVES HERE’… NOT ONE BLACK FACE IN THE ENTIRE PIECE,” social media influencer and community activist, Tony Lewis Jr. wrote on Instagram and Twitter. Lewis wrote in all capital letters similarly to the campaign t-shirts.“BLACK PEOPLE STILL MAKE UP [47 percent] OF THIS CITY. THIS IS DISRESPECTFUL, CARELESS, AND RACIST (YEAH I SAID IT, RACIST). THIS IS VERY REPRESENATIVE OF HOW WE FEEL IN OUR OWN CITY, THAT WE ARE INVISIBLE, THAT WE DON’T EXIST. THAT PEOPLE MOVE HERE HAVE MORE VALUE THAN THOSE BORN HERE. THAT WHEN WE DIE IN THE STREETS IT ISN’T IMPORTANT, THAT THE NEW RESTAURANT OR CONDO SUPERCEDES OUR EXISTENCE,” Lewis wrote. He then encouraged Washingtonians to not support the magazine. The controversy surrounding the shirts and campaign quickly escalated, prompting Washingtonian to delete the campaign and apologize.“As a native Washingtonian, I am very sorry that our latest ‘I Am Not A Tourist’ marketing campaign did not represent the wonderfully diverse city in which we live,” Washingtonian Magazine CEO and president Catherine Merrill Williams wrote in a statement.“This was the very beginning of a campaign in which all intentions are to include the many communities that make up our city. We solicited pictures from a diverse group of people and put the pictures up in the order they came in. People who saw the initial gallery of pictures had no way of knowing that it was not, in fact, the entirety of the marketing campaign. We took down the initial post because it created an impression that was inconsistent with our values and standards. We’re confident that when the campaign is complete it will reflect the diversity of the readership that we serve,” she wrote.Despite the apology some Washingtonians are still outraged. In response to Washingtonian’s campaign, Lewis is putting together a photoshoot on May 20 at Union Market for residents “born, raised and educated” in D.C.“We will provide a counter narrative that there are still folks who were born, raised, and educated in this city still here. We will provide a counter image that not every person living in the city is a [White] millennial,” Lewis wrote on Instagram. The dress code for the photo shoot is all black.
Kolkata: Criticising the move of Left Front calling a six-hour bandh on Friday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has once again attacked the party, saying that it has been sold to BJP.Banerjee took a dig at the Left, saying that from the next time they will call bandh at midnight and stated it to be “bandh freedom at midnight”.While leaving Nabanna on Thursday evening, the Chief Minister said: “Can there be any bandh from 6 am to 12 noon? Next they will give a call for a bandh from midnight to 4 am and it will be observed in sleep. This is their (CPI-M) future and they have no capability to work in the grassroot level. ‘Harmads’ of CPI-M have now become the ‘ostads’ of BJP. The party has been sold to BJP. So it is not right to expect anything from them.”She maintained: “Offices open at 10 am…they have called bandh at such a time that it is nothing but drama. Such drama will not be tolerated. They have caused enough damage to the state by giving call for bandhs.””The bandh will become 100 percent successful if they give a call for the same at midnight,” the Chief Minister said.
